I couldn't have hoped for a better ending to Lawrence and holo's story .yes the and Col, which is nice considering how little we know about their relationship. More than in other manga and anime narratives, Spice and Wolf plays with The end of season two of the anime has Lawrence proclaiming his love for That put things on a whole new level, but what happens is continued in the light novels. Spice and Wolf is a Japanese light novel series written by Isuna Hasekura with accompanying . During the trip, the two deal with the changes in their relationship brought about by Lawrence's confession of love to Holo at the end of the previous volume. While at a river checkpoint, Lawrence and Holo rescue a young boy.
This causes much conflict with Lawrence as he wants to stay with Holo. As days go by the map finally is delivered to them. Holo and Lawrence decide to look at it together. As they do Holo is overcome by emotions as she is finally able to see that it is still a real place.
As thanks for all of Lawrences help Holo gives Lawrence a kiss on the check. To Witch Lawrence sarcastically says that "I've been stabbed, beaten, and nearly bankrupted. And after all that, this is my reward. Witch Lawrence says certainly not. As even though he had gone threw all that in order to bring Holo to Yoitsu. A kiss on the check was the first time in their long journey that Holo had kissed him. Later on while talking to Philon a man who runs a general store for mercenaries.
Who tells him about a mercenary band that goes by the name of Myuri. Lawrence remembers that name as one of Holo's old pack mates. This makes Lawrence even more worried about parting with Holo. As he does not want to bare her meeting such an old friend without him due to not knowing what their relationship used to be.
As he thinks they might possible have had a romantic relationship at some point in the past. Later in the day Lawrence and Elsa go to get clean clothes for Holo and Col. Who has just gotten wet catching eels to eat for lunch. As they walk Elsa then asks why two lovers like Holo and Lawrence just dont decide to stay together.
Lawrence though argues that this is Holo's choice and that it is the right one. Elsa how ever wont give up and asks Lawrence if it's what he wishes for. Witch of course it isn't but he can't think of a way to continue to travel with her. Elsa though yells at him to think. That is when Lawrence figures out a way to continue to travel with Holo.
This is why Elsa is easily my favorite and most impactful side character in the story. As she is a very blunt and honest character and is trying to repay a debt she owes to Holo and Lawrence. By trying to find a way to force Lawrence to chase after what he wants.
If not for Elsa actions here who knows how different the story would have turned out. As Holo and Lawrence would have ended up parting soon after these events. As he goes and tells Holo this she isn't happy that he threw another one of her plans away. But decides to go along with another one of this fools, foolish schemes. Near the end of this Volume Holo decides to ask Lawrence why he is so dead set and not parting.
Since they have both said in the past even if they part they will met again. After some teasing from Holo she finally tells him the words he always wanted to hear. But you fool, you stupid fool, I I do love you so" This makes Lawrence so happy that he is unable to hold back. Pushing Holo against the wall and kissing her on the neck. Holo tells him to stop but he won't witch results in him getting decked in the face witch puts an end to it.
Lawrence getting punched hard enough to leave a mark though has a second meaning to it. As during this era before a couple was to marry. There was a custom of the women hitting her partner hard enough to leave a mark. This was to show everybody else that the man was already taken by another. Vol XV This volume begins with them traveling to Lesko in order to seek out the Myuri mercenary band.
They then find Luward the leader of this group. Who is surprisingly young for a leader of a mercenary band. They then have a talk once Luward hears Holo's name he's shocked. This is because he was told stories as a kid about The Wise Wolf Holo. Its also because his family for generations has been entrusted with passing down a message from Myuri to Holo if they were ever to meet her.
The message is written on a giant wolf claw witch means Myuri has long been dead for. On the claw the message simply reads "Its been awhile" this causes Holo to break down in tears. Luward puts his hand on her shoulder but soon realizes that Lawrence is the one who should be comforting her.
For the next few days Holo is very depressed. Witch prompts Lawrence to get her out of bed and walk around the town with her. As they do Holo seems to not be into walking around. But soon notices that Lawrence is doing all this and trying his best in order to cheer her up. So Holo touched by this begins to cheer up. They also come across a shop that is for sale that is very cheap.
Lawrence after discovering the town is a merchants paradise decides to buy the shop. After he puts down his down payment for the shop he decides to draw out his shop now that his dream is finally coming true.
As he does Holo drapes herself over Lawrence as they talk about it. Lawrence then tells Holo she could think of a name for it. Probably to get back yet again at Lawrence for being to bold in Lenos says "Not the name of a pup" Witch shocks and angers Lawrence.

Later on they celebrate the minting of a new gold coin being minted in Lesko. But their celebration is cut short when a bag is thrown down onto their table. The comany who runs the entire town of Lesko. Once at the meeting place they are shocked to see that Hilde is a rabbit. Witch means he is like Holo in that he has a human form and animal form.
Hilde tells them how there was a uprising in the Debau company. One side wants to ravish the lands for more mining sites. While Hilde and his side wants to use the mining book that Le Roi went to buy in order to use the info in their. To be able to go back and use old mines to collect materials from those instead of destroying places yet to be mined. This forces Lawrence to abandon buying the shop in this town and forces Holo to have to run in her wolf form to get the book from Le Roi.
The reason they agree to help Hilde is because if his side gets what they want. It would meab Yoitsu would probably be spared from getting torn up. So Holo and Lawrence have to part ways for a few days. As Lawrence waits at the inn for Holo Hilde comes to meet with him. Lawrence sees that he is injured. As they talk Hilde tells him his side had lost control and that they need to flee the town. Lawrence then takes a wounded Hilde to where he was set to meet the Myuri mercenary band so they could escape the town.
As they all leave together they are soon to realize a very large mercenary band is after them. Yet after meeting with the band they work out a deal to trick the Debau company into thinking they were fighting.
But in fact it was an act. Lawrence is finding it very hard to deal without having Holo beside him. But thankfully she returns to his side soon after. Lawrence's face lights up at seeing her return but is sad to see she hadn't seemed to miss him at all. The two then split from the group to get the book witch Holo had hide in the woods. As the climb a hill to retrieve it Lawrence is hit by something and ends up rolling down the hill.
This is not surprising since love is the universal theme found in many light novel, anime and manga series.
Spice and Wolf - Wikipedia
However what is different is the constant questioning by others about Holo and Lawrence's official relationship. This is probably due to the medieval setting in which the church 's influence is so great.
But it also provides a direction for the two central characters. Throughout the story line, people inquire whether Holo and Lawrence are married. In fact when it is discovered that they are not, trouble occurs. For example in " Wolf and a Swirling Conspiracy " episode 10 of season 1 the merchants of Ruvinheigen judge Lawrence and Holo as unfit for business for not being married. Later Fermi Amarti --seeing their non-marriage as a weakness--tries to steal Holo away with a marriage proposal while also making the suggestion that Lawrence is forcing her to live in sin by being his traveling companion.
Meanwhile, Mark Colethe town merchant and one character in the anime who truly functions as Lawrence's friend, is notable not only for his "in-town merchant morality" but also for his happy marriage which Lawrence seems to find both amusing and desirable. His pleasure in their marriage may also be due to the fact that Mark's wife, Adele Cole,--in her confident, witty and slightly dangerous nature featured in barely a cameo--is more like Holo than say the sweet innocence of the shepherdess Nora Arendt with whom Lawrence is also sometimes attracted.
Thus, Lawrence and Holo begin to overtly consider the question of marriage themselves, as can be seen by the both of them inquiring of Dian Rubens if there are legends of humans and gods coming together. Marriage as the Fullfiment of Love in the Future Edit The end of season two of the anime has Lawrence proclaiming his love for Holo and her weeping in thankfulness that he has shattered her "foolish" plan her term intended to sever them.
That put things on a whole new level, but what happens is continued in the light novels. Earlier in the series when Holo is desperate to avoid loneliness, she offers herself sexually in order to make children with Lawrence.
It is unclear if she assumes a marriage relationship or not, but she runs into Lawrence's own sense at that moment that without marriage this is an impossible option.
